SR. ACCOUNTANT & ANALYST

Location: Jacksonville, FL

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Senior Accountant/Analyst reports to the CFO and will have responsibility for the monthly general ledger close, balance sheet and income statement analysis, and balance sheet and income statement presentation. The Senior Accountant/Analyst is also responsible for the performance analysis and presentation of Wells Concrete’s business unit (Prestress products, Ready Mix, and Concrete Products).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsibility of the general ledger month-end close and presentation of the balance sheet and income statement results and analysis to the Controller/CFO.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of General Ledger entries and reconciliations for month-end closing to close books in a timely manner.
  • Responsibility for analyzing financial statements monthly and reporting on variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of a monthly account analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Management of the Fixed Asset process, policy, and procedure.
  • Assist in the internal and external financial and tax audit and examination processes, including assisting with the preparation of audited financial statements, footnotes and supplemental information.
  • Review and/or enter material consumption reports from steel shop and production managers with actual counts to correct variances.
  • Development of metrics for all business segments. Design of visualizations within Power BI software.
  • Banking responsibilities – Upload / Approve daily positive pay and ACH review, ACH payment file upload, Wire transfer entry or approval as needed.
  • Complete special projects as requested and performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree required
  • 5 years of private industry or public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus, but not required
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory.
  • Good knowledge of US GAAP and willingness to research and resolve accounting application.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Auditing skills, with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Microsoft Excel experience a must.
  • Detail oriented and organized in work.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
  • Proactive and independent.
  • Flexible and enthusiastic.
  • PowerPoint, Word and other Microsoft Office applications a plus.
  • Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) experience a plus.
  • Understand and accepts changes that are implemented to become Best in Class.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.
  • Visual acuity and ability to read small print.
  • Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to lift and move office supplies and equipment.
  • Mobility and ability to move around the office as needed.

  • General Office Environment with a moderate to high exposure to production environment.
